NATIONAL FOOD AND NUTRITION COMMISSION
The National Food and Nutrition Commission (NFNC) was established in 1967 through an Act of Parliament. The Institution is now guided by the Food and Nutrition Act of Parliament, No.3 of 2020, which gives NFNC a wider mandate to provide leadership on food and nutrition in the country. In line with its mandate, NFNC, with support from partners, is implementing Phase Two (2) of the Multisector Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN)/ 1st 1000 Most Critical Days Program in various districts across Zambia.
The Institution now invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill up a position under this program, at district level:
1.0 DISTRICT COORDINATOR-Zambezi District
1.1 JOB PURPOSE
To coordinate planning and implementation of the 1st 1000 Most Critical days in the District in order to contribute to reduction of all forms of malnutrition
1.2 KEY RESULT AREA | PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY (MAIN DUTIES) |
Coordination | Coordinates planning and implementation of the food and nutrition multisectoral plans in the district through the District Nutrition Coordinating Committees (DNCCs) |
Management | Efficiently and effectively manages financial and material resources assigned to her in order to ensure appropriate utilization and accountability. |
Monitoring & Evaluation | Participates actively in monitoring and evaluation of the minimum packages of nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive in order to assess their effectiveness and impact. |
Technical support/backstopping | Provides technical supportive services and backstopping to stakeholders in order to ensure effective implementation of the minimum packages of nutrition specific and nutrition sensitive interventions |
Performance Management | Regularly interacts with district level sector nutrition focal points and other technical staff to ensure planned activities are implemented to achieve expected results/outputs |
Documentation | Facilitates documentation and sharing processes, lessons learned and best practices with other stakeholders and districts |
Reports | Prepares and submits progress and annual reports to NFNC and the District Commissioner’s Office, as well as sharing reports with DNCC committee members. |
1.3 EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Full Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent
- Minimum of a Diploma in Food and Nutrition or Public Health
- Minimum three years of relevant work experience in the nutrition sector
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office, and Outlook
1.4 KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Able to write analytical and technical reports
- Able to communicate effectively in English
- Able to work with people of different culture
- Experience in training
