SCALING UP NUTRITION (SUN) ''GOAT PASS ON PROGRAM"- CHINSALI BENEFICIARIES

Sixty (60) year old retiree Mr. Chanda Chewe,decided to settle in his native town Chinsali District, Northern Zambia as a small scale farmer. He invested part of his terminal benefits into farming.
Mr. Chanda is one of the local villagers who has benefited from the First 1000 Most Critical Days Program (MCDP) under the SUN Fund, through a scheme called ‘Goat Pass on Scheme’, that is also partially supported by Heifer International in Chinsali District.

The First 1000 Most Critical Days Program (MCDP) has turned around the life of Joyce Nsofwa, a 49 year old local fish farmer in Chinsali’s Lukonde village, located about 12 km from the main town. Lukonde village has over 25 fish ponds and 20 farmers were engaged into fish farming. 

Health Permanent Secretary Urges the Nutrition Fraternity to Step Up

The permanent secretary of the Ministry of Health, as he chaired the national multistakeholder forum, urged the nutrition fraternity to make smarter goals in order to meet the targets. 

First Multi-stakeholder Forum Meeting 2016

On the 15th of February 2016, the National Multi-stakeholder Forum of the SUN First 1000 Most Critical Days programme held their first meeting of the year. 
Led by the National Food and Nutrition Commission and chaired by the Permanent Secretary of Health, the multi-stakeholder forum meets biannually to provide an opportunity for heads of institutions implementing food and nutrition specific and sensitive programs to share and discuss performance of food and nutrition interventions.

Preparation for Nutrition Forum Takes Off

The National Food and Nutrition Commission (NFNC) has kick-started preparations for this year’s national nutrition forum.
The nutrition forum will see experts, scientists, academicians, nutritionists, policy makers and other stakeholders gather to exchange information on the strides made in reducing under nutrition in the country. 
Top of the agenda for the upcoming forum will be exploring ways of leveraging multi-stakeholder response to food and nutrition actions in the nation.
